In 2014, Carats Fine Jewelry hosted a jewelry design contest and benefit auction to support The Sarasota Chapter of Girls Inc. The contest was open to all current Girls Inc. participants and allowed local young women to learn about the jewelry design process, including conception, fabrication, production, and completion!
The winner, Montserrat Vasquez, had the chance to see her original jewelry design transformed into a unique, handcrafted, and wearable work of art. This Jewelry Design Contest presented Montserrat the incredible opportunity to learn about the art of being a jeweler and the amazement of her drawing transformed into a wearable creation. Montserrat’s piece was auctioned off for $7,200, all of which was donated to Girls Inc.
Carats holds a deep appreciation and sense of responsibility for guiding our young women through life’s challenges. As early as age 5, girls who attend Girls Incorporated of Sarasota County are exposed to life changing education about entrepreneurship, technology, finances, engineering, and science. An impressive 80%, of those who participate, move on to attend higher education and create successful careers.
By investing in these programs, we’re giving the girls of Sarasota County the opportunity for a sustainable and fulfilling future. Therefore, the entire month of June will be “Diamonds Doing Good Month,” at Carats Fine Jewelry!
